An experience built with care and intention

A relaxed session where you can slow down, be together, and let the little moments happen naturally.

The beauty of everyday moments

I know that being in front of a camera can sometimes feel intimidating, especially for families with little kids. That’s why I put a lot of care into creating an experience that feels relaxed from the very beginning. Before your session, I’ll guide you through everything you need to prepare, from outfit suggestions to location ideas and what to expect during our time together. During the session itself, there’s no pressure for anyone to pose or behave perfectly. We’ll take things slowly, follow your family’s rhythm, play music, bring snacks or toys if needed, and create space for everyone to simply enjoy being together.

What to expect

There’s space for kids to play, couples to connect, and moments to unfold without rushing.

Gentle guidance

I’ll guide you throughout the session in a way that feels natural and comfortable, without making anything feel too posed.

Natural, timeless photos

All the small moments you’ll cherish dearly years from now, will be captured on camera - the laughter, the warmth, the hugs.

Things you might want to know

1 What does a session with you feel like?

Sessions are relaxed and easygoing. I’ll guide you throughout when needed, but there’s no pressure for everyone to pose perfectly and stand still. Especially with kids, I’ve found the best photos usually happen once everyone settles in, plays a little, and stops thinking too much about the camera.

2 Where do sessions usually take place?

Totally up to you! If you already have a spot in mind — a place that means something to you, a favorite park, your own backyard — let's use it. If you're not sure, that's what I'm here for. I love helping pick a location based on the vibe you're going for and what feels most natural for you. Outdoors, urban, cozy and familiar — we'll find the perfect fit together.

3 How do you guide us during the session?

I'll mix in some light posing with natural movements and interactions so things never feel stiff or staged. My direction is gentle, easy to follow, and designed to help you forget there's even a camera there. The goal is for the photos to look like you — not like you were trying really hard to look like you.

4 How do we book a session with you?

Two easy ways! You can fill out the contact form with a little info about yourself, the type of session you're looking for, and any dates or locations you have in mind — I'll get back to you with availability and next steps. Or, if you're ready to go, head straight to my booking site where you can browse seasonal minis, standard sessions, and senior packages, check real-time availability, and lock in your spot directly.

What time should we schedule our session

Lighting has a bigger impact on your photos than most people realize — it can completely change the mood, tone, and feel of your entire gallery, so it is worth thinking about before you book your time slot.

Early morning (7–9 AM) can work but the light tends to be harsher and more direct depending on the season. You may notice stronger shadows and less of that soft, dreamy quality that makes portrait photos feel special. We will find all the shade possible for these times!

Late afternoon (4–6 PM summer, 2-4PM winter) is where things start to get really good. The sun begins to drop and the light softens significantly — colors look richer, skin tones are more flattering, and everything just feels warmer and more natural.

Golden hour (6–8:30 PM summer, 4-5:30 PM winter) is my absolute favorite time to shoot and for good reason. The sun is low, the light is pure gold, and it wraps around everything beautifully. Photos taken during golden hour have that warm, glowy, almost magical quality that you see all over Pinterest. If you can make this window work, I cannot recommend it enough.

Not sure what time is right for your session? I am always happy to help you figure it out

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if the weather is unfavourable for an outdoor shoot?

Iowa weather has a mind of its own and I totally get it! If we run into bad weather on your session day the decision is completely yours. We can reschedule for a better day, push the session to later that day if the weather clears, or embrace it and shoot anyway — sometimes overcast days actually make for beautiful soft light. Whatever you are most comfortable with, I will make it work!
